Lash extension faqs

Eyelash extensions are individual Synthetic Mink and/or Silk eyelashes. They are attached one-by-one to each of your individual natural lashes – not to the skin. This service is beauty enhancing and eliminates the need to wear mascara. It is a meticulous service which requires the skill and precision of your certified lash technician. Once the eyelash extensions are applied, they are natural looking. Size availability ranges from short to long which will be decided and agreed upon with your lash artist.

No. The application process is entirely painless and weightless. They should never cause discomfort if they are being applied by a trained lash artist using proper techniques. The application process is actually very relaxing and most of clients fall asleep or take a lash nap.
If you have heard that lash extensions can hurt or be uncomfortable, this is usually the result of getting serviced by a poorly trained, poorly educated, and likely cheap lash artist. No pain should ever be involved during or after lash application. They should never hurt, poke, or pull—this is a sign of improper isolation. If you do feel any of this, do not hesitate to point out where it hurts, so your lash artist can fix these “stickies.”

No. When extensions are applied correctly they will not harm your natural lashes. Each lash extension is adhered to one single natural lash, the extension will grow out naturally as your own lash matures. The eyelash adhesive is formulated to create a solid bond, specifically for human lashes. The adhesive dries very soft on the lashes, allowing the lashes to stay flexible and bouncy just like your own eyelashes.

No. When eyelash extensions have been properly applied by a trained lash stylist, they should feel completely WEIGHTLESS + PAINLESS! Maintaining the health and integrity of your natural lashes is of utmost importance to us! Only a safe extension length & weight suited for each natural lash will be applied with the tiniest amount of adhesive in order to maintain your natural lash health. The length & weight of your last extension should be solely based on what the natural lash can healthily support.
Lashes that are too heavy can cause your natural lash to shed prematurely.
If you’ve had extensions that felt heavy, it was likely due to:
Application of long lengths (>14mm), thickness (>0.15mm), or clusters that your natural lash could not support.
Too much adhesive was used.
Improper isolation and separation of natural lashes.
-
No. Again, if your lash artist is using proper application techniques and customizing the lengths and weight to uphold your natural lash hair, your lashes will shed as they normally do according to your normal eyelash cycle.
Your natural eyelashes fall out regardless of having extensions or not. We just don’t realize it because they are so tiny and thin. But we shed about 3-5 eyelashes a day! It is just way more noticeable to see lashes that have shed when they’re attached to a longer, darker, synthetic lash than by your natural lash alone. The process of shedding eyelashes is normal and not a result of wearing lash extensions.
-
No. When eyelash extensions are applied by a trained lash stylist, your natural lashes are allowed to grow as usual. Women without lash extensions usually apply and remove mascara every day. In fact, the application and slight pulling of lashes when applying mascara followed by the cleaning and rubbing of your eyes to remove the mascara can greatly damage your lashes. With a proper lash extension application, there will be no damage and your lashes should grow better than they would if you were applying, wearing and cleaning off mascara day to day. So the myth that your natural lashes could be shorter if you were to remove your extensions is not true.

All of us have different eye shapes, hair types, and amount of natural eyelashes available. What does this mean? It means that lash extensions can be (and should be) customized just for YOU; thus, looks will vary across different eyes. At Urban Beauty Co. we strive to provide safe & customized eyelash extensions.
Before application, we will always build a custom eye map that is tailored to bring a design that suits your individual eye shape, facial structure, lifestyle, and desired lash look.
